Abstract

This study aims to get the contribution of honey bees (Apis cerana) as pollinating insects in increasing the production of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) and Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) plants. The research was conducted in Korong Gadang Sub-District Kuranji District (-00 57 'LS, 1000 21' BT) with a place height of 20 m above sea level (asl). The study was conducted in the form of experiments using Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The results showed an increase in cucumber fruit production at open pollination of 18.30% and pollination by Apis cerana honeybee by 16.47% compared to pollination by wind. Higher production increases occur in cucumber plants at open pollination of 267% and pollination with the help of honey bees by 190% compared to pollination by wind. Increasing the number of tomato seeds also occurs in open pollination of 157% and pollination by honey bees is 76.02% compared to pollination by wind. The number of cucumber seeds increased 204.23% in open pollination and 145.86% compared to pollination by wind. Increasing the number of seeds also affects the diameter of tomatoes, but does not affect the diameter of the cucumber.
